Rond 20:04 uur gebeurde een frontale botsing op de N245 (Schagerweg) bij Oudkarspel. Meerdere ambulances en brandweer rukte met spoed uit (P1) naar het incident. Volgens Dagblad Dijk en Waard en Noordhollands Dagblad waren er drie gewonden bij het ongeval, waaronder ook een hondje dat gewond raakte. De botsing was dermate ernstig dat beknelling optrad en de weg werd afgesloten. De hulpdiensten waren tot minstens 20:18 uur ter plaatse om slachtoffers te bergen en medische zorg te verlenen.
