Rond 05:41 uur brak een grote brand uit in een loods bij afvalverwerkingsbedrijf PreZero aan de Ankerkade in Maastricht. De brandweer rukte massaal uit met meerdere eenheden en escaleerde het incident naar GRIP 1. De brand ontstond in een opslagruimte met gevaarlijke stoffen. Volgens meerdere bronnen zette de brandweer onder meer een robot in voor verkenning en blustechniek. De brand was rond 06:00 uur onder controle. Een ambulance werd ter plaatse geroepen voor eventuele slachtoffers. Volgens De Limburger en L1 Nieuws gaf de brandweer rond 08:00 uur sein "brand meester". De rookwolk trok richting Bunde, maar volgens HBVL vormt de brand geen gevaar voor inwoners van het nabijgelegen Lanaken.
