Rond 10:10 uur brak een zeer grote brand uit bij een garagebedrijf aan de Gijsbrecht van Amstelstraat in Hilversum. De brandweer rukte massaal uit en escaleerde de response van MIDDEL BRAND naar ZEER GROTE BRAND en uiteindelijk GRIP 1. Volgens NH Nieuws was een grote rookpluim boven de woonwijk zichtbaar. De Gooi- en Eemlander meldde dat één persoon gewond raakte en dat omwonenden werden gewaarschuwd hun ramen dicht te houden vanwege de sterke rookontwikkeling. Gooischdagblad en andere bronnen bevestigden dat het autoschadebedrijf zwaar beschadigd raakte. De straat werd afgesloten voor verkeer. Inwoners in wijde omgeving werden geïnformeerd over de forse rook.
