Rond 11:42 uur brak een uitslaande brand uit in een bijgebouw op het volkstuinencomplex aan de Arie Schaapweg in Dordrecht. De brandweer rukte met grote spoed uit en escaleerde de prioriteit al binnen enkele minuten naar een grote brand. Meerdere ambulances werden ter plaatse gestuurd. Volgens de nieuwsberichten was de brand zeer heftig met dikke rookwolken die wijd over de stad zichtbaar waren. Bij het incident raakten dieren gewond: een paard liep brandwonden op, en naar verluidt vielen ongeveer 147 duiven dood. De brand verwoestte volkstuintjes en schuren op het complex.
